The Story

The framework
I wish I'd had.

For nearly twenty years, I ran my own company as co-founder and CEO — a six-time Inc. 5000 honoree — and built it to a successful exit. That exit taught me something most business owners don't find out until it's too late. Like me, most owners have a plan for growing the business — and no plan for converting that value into personal wealth throughout the ownership journey. Instead, they depend on a single exit event they don't control. And with 70% of businesses that go to market never selling, hope becomes the strategy. I consider myself fortunate to have exited successfully — but too many owners never get that chance. That's why building wealth during the ownership journey, not just at the end of it, is the whole point of The PAID Architecture.

The traditional setup makes this worse. A CPA handles taxes. An attorney handles the entity and the estate. An advisor handles investments. Each does their job well, and none of them is responsible for the whole picture — so 78% of an owner's net worth typically stays locked inside the business until a single event, usually the sale, forces a reckoning.

I built The PAID Architecture to fix that. It's not a sales process. It's the framework I use — as a licensed insurance agent, financial advisor (Series 7/63), and Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) — to evaluate where business value is exposed or trapped and build a coordinated plan across investments, insurance, tax, and exit strategy. From there, I stay in the work: reviewing, adjusting, and coordinating the professionals who execute it, so the plan keeps moving as the business and the owner's goals evolve.
